  Tai Chi is a fluid sequence of movements choreographed in a low impact routine. The practice of Tai Chi focuses on the mind/body connection. This state of active meditation provides tranquillity and is achieved when movements are coordinated with mental awareness. All movements are practiced in a relaxed manner. The practice of Tai Chi has evolved into a self-healing art due to its many health related benefits. This program is an effective training method for stress relief, osteoarthritis, and provides better concentration, circulation and balance in adults.

  Come and join us for stimulating walks through the Sintra mountains and along the coast. Meet new friends and enjoy spectacular scenery while exercising. You should be fit enough to walk for 2-3 hours at a reasonable pace, mostly off road, along trails that can include steep slopes and slippery and uneven terrain. Suitable clothing and footwear is recommended.

  For information regarding a particular walk, please contact the leader for each walk listed.  We have different meeting places, so check before setting out!

  INFORMATION FOR IWP OUTDOOR GROUP ACTIVITIES
  Please bring your own: water, hat, clothing, walking poles, snack, mask and disinfectant to the group activity.

  PLEASE NOTE:

  1. Walk participants must be members of IWP.
  2. A guest may participate in no more than two Association activities or events before applying for membership and shall be informed of this when registering for any events or activities.
  3. The walk takes about 2-3 hours so plan accordingly.
  4. Wear practical footwear as terrain is most often uneven. If you use walking sticks bring them.
  5. Due to bad weather conditions or other reasons we may change the venue of a walk until Thursday before the walk, so check your email.
  6. Due to bad weather conditions (too wet or too hot as determined by the leader of the walk) or other reasons, a walk may be cancelled until 9:00 am the day of the walk. Please check your emails.
  7. Although we have different meeting places, the start is always at 10:30 am, until we change to a summer schedule. It will be announced and noted on the schedule.
  8. And about the dogs, you already know! Your dog must be kept on a leash. No stretch/flexi leashes are allowed. Poo pickup is a must!

  A different kind of treat awaits our Tea lovers this month. Afternoon Tea will be served at the Convento dos Cardaes, a 17^th century convent and church in Lisbon that survived the 1755 earthquake. Built between 1677 and 1703, the convent preserves the baroque and rococo interior, with walls lined with Portuguese and Dutch tile panels.

  The Convento dos Cardaes offers Afternoon Tea on weekends from mid-November to mid-December each year. Proceeds this year will go to the restoration of the Novices’ Cloister.

  Chat with fellow members while you enjoy a scone, cakes, and tea. Interested parties may also attend a free one-hour concert at the church at 4:30 pm. The concert features the adufe musical instrument, a traditional square tambourine-like drum of Moorish origin, which is used in Portugal and Spain. You may also browse the convent shop, which sells Christmas goodies, like jams and cookies, among other things.

  For those who are interested in a tour of the convent and church before Afternoon Tea, please let Tess Robeson know at mtrobeson@yahoo.com. If there’s enough interest, Tess can arrange for an English tour at 2:30 pm. The tour, which lasts about 45 minutes, costs 5€, payable directly to the Convento dos Cardaes.

  Remember 'LAMB CHOP'?! - She's BAAAAAACKK!!!

  Join Mallory Lewis and Lamb Chop  for a nostalgic look at the life and adventures of Shari Lewis.  An amazingly strong woman whose career spanned nearly 6 decades, her daughters Mally and Lamb Chop, now have over a half million followers on social media and recently produced an award winning documentary: 'Shari and Lamb Chop'.  Lamb Chop is the newest member of (and only puppet!) International Women of Portugal and is eager to meet the group and make new friends.  Mally and Lamb Chop's presentation has music, comedy and curated videos highlighting Shari's career.

  Following Shari Lewis' passing in 1998, Mallory began appearing with Lamb Chop at live and televised events, entertaining at thousands of venues. The duo are deeply involved in multiple charitable causes focusing on Children’s Welfare and Women’s Rights.
