For information regarding a particular walk, please contact the leader for each walk listed below.
Come and join us for stimulating walks through the Sintra mountains and along the coast. Meet new friends and enjoy spectacular scenery while exercising. You should be fit enough to walk for 2-3 hours at a reasonable pace, mostly off road, along trails that can include steep slopes and slippery and uneven terrain. Suitable clothing and footwear is recommended.

Driving directions: Take the EN 247 from Cascais in the direction of Sintra for about 18 kms. When entering Colares turn left to go over the bridge where there are several signposts for the beaches. Follow the road for about half a km until you see a playground on your right - across the street from the Pomarinho market. We meet behind the playground and the junta de freguesia. R. da Cochicha 2

Driving Directions: Coming from Cascais, in Malveira de Serra turn right after Panisol and SPAR market. Next, turn left at the sign to Pena Palace and Penha Longa (among others) and go up the hill less than 1km. Park around the fountain on left side of road.

Driving Directions: From Cascais take the E247 in the direction of Sintra. Take the second left turn in Almocageme (where the weekend market is located), signposted Praia Grande and Praia das Maças. At the T-intersection at the end of the road turn right toward Praia das Maças. At the roundabout, turn left to drive through Praia das Maças. Continue past the 1st parking lot/miradoura while looking for a school (Escola Oficial) located where the road bends left (follow the white line). Continue through Azenhas da Mar on the main road. You will pass a dirt road on the left called Caminho da Aguda. You can take this one or go further to the paved road called Estrada da Aguda where you would take a left. Both go to the same parking lot. GPS 38.850129, -9.455370. If you put Largo da Praia da Aguda into google it will take you there. Do not put praia da aguda into google or it will take you the wrong place.
INFORMATION FOR IWP OUTDOOR GROUP ACTIVITIES
Please bring your own: water, hat, clothing, walking poles, snack, mask and disinfectant to the group activity.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. Walk participants must be members of IWP.
2. A guest may participate in no more than two Association activities or events before applying for membership and shall be informed of this when registering for any events or activities.
3. The walk takes about 2-3 hours so plan accordingly.
4. Wear practical footwear as terrain is most often uneven. If you use walking sticks bring them.
5. Due to bad weather conditions or other reasons we may change the venue of a walk until Thursday before the walk, so check your email.
6. Due to bad weather conditions (too wet or too hot as determined by the leader of the walk) or other reasons, a walk may be cancelled until 9:00 am the day of the walk. Please check your email.
7. Although we have different meeting places, the start is always at 10:30 am, until we change to a summer schedule. It will be announced and noted on the schedule.
8. And about the dogs, you already know! Your dog must be kept on a leash. No stretch/flexi leashes are allowed. Poo pickup is a must! International Women in Portugal (IWP) and its volunteers are not responsible or liable for any injuries that participants (members, associates and guests) may incur during any of its activities, events or excursions.
