In 1386, the Treaty of Windsor was signed, forging a lasting—though sometimes rocky—alliance between Portugal and England. While contact between the Iberian Peninsula and the British Isles goes back over a 1000 years, it was only with the birth of the Portuguese kingdom that their histories truly intertwined—through wars, royal marriages, traditions, and unique friendships.
In our next talk, we’ll explore what unites these two countries: how the 14th-century treaty remains one of the world’s oldest still in effect, how Portuguese princesses reshaped English customs, how queens forged lifelong bonds in a male-dominated world—and much more.
