Moving to Portugal - An Emotional Reality Check
by Louise Strasenburgh
Moving can be challenging. It actually ranks third on the list of 'stressful life events', right behind death and divorce. So when you move from one country to another, encountering a new language, different customs, unknown roads and towns and foods you may not recognise etc. it can be VERY challenging. Yes, we have physically arrived but have we paused and thought about how we're dealing with our move from an emotional point of view? Let's talk about awareness and what may ease your transition not only to Portugal but to any other move you may make in the future.
Louise moved from the UK to Portugal as a child but spent her adult years in the US, returning to live in Cascais in 2019. She is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, helping people recover from unresolved grief and loss, using an evidence based 7 week program.
Louise published her first children’s book on loss, The Space In My Heart in May of this year.
