Place of narrow streets and deep traditions, the neighbourhood of Mouraria has long written its history in the chapters of Lisbon!
A Moorish neighbourhood after the Christian conquest of the city, it was here that ancient cultures and knowledge came together. Artisans and legends settled there, sciences and superstitions were kept alive while the world around changed and collapsed with earthquakes and urban growth.
The birthplace of Lisbon's fado and of figures whose aura transcends the years, Mouraria is today a multicultural territory of people, languages and vestiges that are increasingly seeing the light of day and helping to tell the story of this neighbourhood.
