This month we will visit the Pimenta Palace, headquarters of the Museum of Lisbon and located in Campo Grande. This museum provides a chronological overview of the development of the city from prehistoric times to the late 20th century. A diorama will show Lisbon before the earthquake of 1755.
The palace itself is a summer palace dating from the first half of the 18th century. It was a gift from John V of Portugal to his mistress Paula Teresa da Silva e Almeida, a nun of the Monastery of São Dinis in Odivelas. The palace is framed by remains of an old manor house. A beautiful garden completes the place.
