Nestled along the Tagus River, Barreiro is a city where industrial history meets contemporary creativity. Once a powerhouse of economic and social development, it has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years.
Our journey through Barreiro is a voyage through time—exploring ancient landscapes, an abandoned railway station, and striking urban art by renowned artists such as Vhils, Odheit, and Bordalo II. Inspired by its industrial past, Barreiro played a pivotal role in Portugal’s growth, with CUF establishing its first major factory here in 1907. This industrial giant shaped the region through its diverse ventures in chemicals, tobacco, and shipbuilding.
Barreiro is just 20 minutes from Lisbon, offering breathtaking views of the capital.
