In 1513, Lisbon’s first planned neighbourhood—Bairro Alto—came into being. Its streets are still lined with palaces, convents, and houses that reveal the story of this open-air quarter, shaped by the expulsion of Lisbon’s Jewish community and the rapid growth of the city during the age of Portuguese maritime expansion.
More than 500 years later, we’ll walk these historic streets together, uncovering who designed, built, and brought them to life over the centuries.
